Who was Tanner?
The Tanner Mock Foundation was founded in 2023, when we lost Tanner.
Tanner was 14 years old when he was called to Heaven. A young man who loved the outdoors, baseball, dog hunting, and most of all Jesus. Each and every day Tanner's loving spirit inspired those around him through the way he played sports, and most importantly, the way he showed his faith to those around him.
Adopting the principle #FaithLikeTanner, the Tanner Mock Foundation seeks to share Tanner's faith, hope, love to each and every child we help and inspire.
Tanner loved baseball and playing with his friends, and at the TMF we believe that our mission is to uplift the youth of our communities by making opportunities available for each and every child to participate in all the activities that Tanner loved while introducing them to God and supporting their relationships with Him.

Tanner Mock was born on April 29, 2009 - but his testimony begins well before that.
At 28 weeks, Tanner's parents, Kevin and Heather Mock, were informed that Tanner may suffer from a developmental complication called PUV (Posterior Urethral Valves). Upon receiving this news, Tanner's parents knew that all they could do was pray, and so together with their church family, the Mocks began to pray for Tanner.
A few weeks later, the Mocks returned to the doctors and the PUV condition was confirmed, however, the blockage that the doctors believed would be complete was not, this was the first good news. If a baby has a complete blockage, they will not live to be delivered.
8 weeks later, the Mocks returned to the doctor and an ultrasound showed that there was not enough fluid to continue the pregnancy, and that the baby would be coming early.
The specialist recommended that the Mocks immediately head to FWBMC to be induced.
On April 29, 2009 at 9:59 AM , Tanner Bryce Mock was born.
The following day, his creatinine level (normal = .2-.6) and several other levels started to rise. Several tests were ran on Tanner, and it was concluded that there was thankfully no back flow into his kidneys. However, Tanner's creatinine level had risen to 2.6 and this would mean complications in the future as his kidneys would not be able to properly function. Tanner was made to take formula, much more than any newborn could possibly handle, to keep his kidneys working constantly.
On May 4th, the Mocks requested prayer from their church family and were told that the church had begun praying for Tanner every hour of every day until he was to come home. All through the day and into the night, a schedule was shared and someone was praying around the clock for Tanner. The next day, Tanner was transferred to Pensacola hospital, where he was admitted to the Level 3 NICU. 2 days later, Tanner was transferred to Level 2, where his creatinine was still elevated at 2.2.
The doctors recommended that Tanner be fitted with a permanent feeding tube to help him meet the required amount of formula. The doctor also informed them that it would be likely that Tanner would need a kidney transplant.
The doctors informed the Mocks that if Tanner could pass his car seat challenge, he would be cleared to return home. At 9 PM Tanner passes his car seat challenge, and the Mocks are prepared to go home tomorrow.
At 7 AM the doctor informs the Mocks that there were complications and they would not be going home. The incision that the doctor made to implant the tube had ruptured and his intestines were outside his body, and they were prepping for emergency surgery. This would be Tanners 3rd surgery and the one that would affect him the most.
One June 11, 2009, the Mocks are finally released from the hospital and get to bring Tanner home. At this point, a member of their church had been constantly praying for Tanner each hour of each day, this added up for a total of 912 hours, 39 days.
Being home also allowed the Mocks to take Tanner to church, the entire church laid hands on him and believed for his healing. The Mocks believe that this was the true beginning of Tanner's healing.
July 13th held 4 appointments for Tanner, the doctors again told the Mocks that Tanner would require a kidney transplant. However, his creatinine level had again decreased to 1.3, which the doctors found incredible.
August 3, 2009, the Mocks return to the doctors for a kidney test. Tanner's creatinine had again decreased to 0.9, the doctors again thought that this would never have been possible.
September 28th held 3 appointments for Tanner. His creatinine is now 0.55, completely astounding his doctors. The doctors continued to tell the Mocks that they were absolutely amazed at this level, something that he thought would never be attainable with his kidneys in the shape they were.
The doctor again tells them that he does not understand how he is doing this good after his initial ultrasound.
December 18th comes with a creatinine level of 0.46, following two complete weeks without the feeding tube. On February 1, after not using the tube for 6 weeks, Tanner's creatinine is at 0.44 (the lowest ever). His tube is scheduled to come out May 20.
On May 20, 2010, Tanner's tube was removed and the hospital staff has been left in disbelief, they say it is an extremely rare event that a feeding tube comes out after having to use it. Most people live a lifetime without the chance to get it removed... This alone meant that Tanner would have a chance at an active life, without the feeding tube.
In September of 2010, the Mocks attended the Bay of the Holy Spirit Revival in Mobile and the pastor calls for those specifically with kidney problems.
The Mock's courage to take Tanner to the altar may not have only served in Tanner's healing, but also gave another woman courage to receive prayer for herself.
Mrs. Delia Knox who is now a renowned speaker and worship leader, was struck by a drunk driver, and had for 23 years been bound to a wheelchair. In her testimony she speaks of how she gained the courage to go to the altar after seeing Tanner receiving prayer. After much prayer and intercession, Delia Knox stood from the wheelchair she had been in for 23 years.
Tanner's creatinine continued to stay in the normal range for the rest of his life, Tanner never required a kidney transplant, and it was confirmed that Tanner had been radically and completely healed.
He led an active life that astounded his doctors. Tanner was a part of the first team in Paxton's history to make it to the Dixie Youth World Series. He was also a part of the Paxton Bobcats Junior Varsity team at Paxton School.
Tanner's testimony now lives on through this foundation and the hearts of those he knew and loved, Tanner's healing has touched many people throughout the years, and continues to do so to this day. It is the mission of the TMF to provide the same opportunities that Tanner had to the youth of our community.
Not only to help them with sports, but to show them God through faith, hope, and love!
